Tell the Los Angeles City Council to Adopt Sensible Regulations
| By DPFCA | Published May 25, 2009 |
The Los Angeles City Council has until September 14, 2009, to adopt
regulations for medical cannabis dispensing collectives in Los Angeles.
We want the City Council to move quickly to do so because:
(1) we need time to evaluate the proposed ordinance before committees or the full
City Council vote on it,
(2) we do not want any 11th-hour compromises
that are bad for patients, and
(3) neighbors are increasingly alarmed by the proliferation of unregulated facilities.
A draft ordinance written by City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo is currently before
the Planning and Land Use Management Committee (PLUM). LA-ASA members
should ask the PLUM Committee to reject the City Attorney’s draft
ordinance and support regulations based on input form the city’s
medical cannabis working group.

Hello.
My name is _____. I am a medical cannabis patient/supporter, and I am
calling/writing to ask you to reject the draft ordinance from City
Attorney Rocky Delgadillo to regulate medical cannabis collectives in
Los Angeles. Instead, I hope you will support an ordinance that facilitates safe access to medicine and protects the community with sensible regulations. This ordinance should be based on the existing
ordinance in Los Angeles County and the input of the medical cannabis working group. Thank you.
Remember to be brief and courteous. It matters if you are a resident of one of the Districts represented by a PLUM Committee member. Visit www.LACity.org and type your address in the box labeled “My Neighborhood” (near the bottom) to locate your Council District.
