This week, Los Angeles Police Officers and DEA Agents raided several collectives in the Los Angeles area. First, the operator at Ashmoon in the San Fernando Valley reported to ASA that the LAPD raided his collective Monday night saying that his patients were "too young." The next day, ASA received eye witness reports that there were three DEA raids on Tuesday afternoon in Northridge, Studio City, and Sherman Oaks. Staff at the collective in Northridge reported one arrest or detention. ASA has not heard reports from the other locations.
All of the raids this week were conducted at rapid speed, as to avoid patient protests and media coverage. This new tactic is similar to last week's raid on Herbal Nutrition Center and other raids which occurred earlier in the year.

The DEA raided a collective in Los Angeles today, confiscating vending machines that made national media headlines earlier this year. Witnesses said DEA agents hauled machines out of the Herbal Nutrition Center on La Cienega Blvd., but there was no word on arrests or what else might have been taken. One observer said the facility appeared to be closed when the incident occurred.
The raid was over before advocates could mount a response. This is the latest "smash and grab" DEA action one in which agents quickly confiscate patients' medicine and cash before protesters show up. Anyone with news about arrests or other details, please let me know. We want to be sure no one is left in custody.

The DEA raided 6 dispensaries and the private residence of an operator in Los Angeles. All of the dispensaries are from a single family of collectives. The collectives raided were:
The Holistic Caregivers, Compton
Western Caregivers Group, LA
Crenshaw Holistic Caregivers Group, LA
THC Gardena, Gardena
Southern California Caregivers Group, LA (SFV)
Med Ex, LA
No arrests were made and the collectives, which took only minor losses due to careful precautions, are expected to reopen today. During one of the raids, acitivists at the site protesting over heard one of the DEA officers tell the others that "the alert has gone out" and "they're on the way."
